Bluebonnet is a modern French home interior design project in Braeswood, Houston, created for an 8,580-square-foot residence and a family of five. Lucinda Loya Interiors brought a sharper, more contemporary spirit to its traditional architecture through European antiques, expressive color, statement lighting and custom details. The result is bold and personal.
The full-home residential interior design respects the residence’s French character while giving each room a distinct point of view. Pale blue deepens into navy and teal, with black, brass and gold adding contrast. Treasured pieces, including the family’s antique Persian rug, sit comfortably beside modern furnishings and art, creating a Houston home that feels elegant enough for entertaining, relaxed enough for daily life and unmistakably its own.
Designed for entertaining, the main sitting area takes its French-blue palette from the family’s antique Persian rug. European antiques, rich velvet, a mirrored fireplace and crystal chandelier give the room history and edge.
The formal dining room pairs a sweeping white table and graphic seating with a lacquered teal-blue ceiling. Mirrored panels amplify the light, while a paper sculpture by Li Hongbo introduces a modern edge.
Beneath the sweeping staircase, a branching brass chandelier sets the tone. Tailored seating, patterned textiles and playful vintage details turn the passage into a room of its own.
Deep teal millwork wraps the library and home bar in a rich, cocooning color. Agate-backed shelves, a starburst chandelier and midcentury seating create an intimate setting for drinks and conversation.

Featured makers include Tom Dixon, Baker, Robert Abbey, David Sutherland and Madison Lily, with artwork by Li Hongbo and antique Empire chairs reupholstered by The Joseph Company. Each adds a distinct layer to the home.

Custom navy cabinetry gives the kitchen depth, balanced by pale stone, brass hardware and a brass-trimmed hood. A vintage armoire conceals the refrigerator, bringing character to this hardworking family space.
A curved navy banquette turns the breakfast area into an inviting place to gather. Graphic ochre drapery, rounded dining chairs and a clean-lined pedestal table keep the composition crisp and relaxed.
A relaxed gameroom pairs a deep sectional with sculptural ottomans and a lucite and brass card table. Plenty of seating, textiles, graphic artwork and tailored custom window treatments give the room a playful yet polished edge.
The bedroom is composed in a palette of black, white, and soft gray. An artful, pearl-like chandelier and sculptural lamps by Liz Marsh add a luminous quality, while tailored upholstery brings definition. A graphic pin-up rug and intimate seating area give the room added function and personality.
