Set within nearly 1,000 acres northwest of Houston, Houston Oaks is a country retreat built around life outdoors. Lucinda Loya Interiors designed the 8,200-square-foot, six-bedroom home for three generations of one extended family. The result is a tailored take on Texas ranch interior design, balancing the home’s French-European architecture with the ease of its setting.

A muted palette of teal, gray-blue, and natural stone gives this modern ranch its quiet foundation, layered with reclaimed timber, leather, tactile fabrics, and collected finds from Round Top. Perennials fabrics used indoors bring durability without sacrificing softness. Here, luxury ranch interior design is less about formality and rather about the warmth, character, and everyday ease.

The great room is arranged into several seating areas, so its generous scale still feels intimate. Reclaimed timber, natural stone and custom seating bring warmth and texture, while ceramic lamps by Liz Marsh Designs add a sculptural note.

The bar and wine room takes a more tailored approach to entertaining, with a leather-wrapped bar, marble top, tile backsplash and leather pulls adding richness and texture. It feels polished but never formal, entirely at ease in the relaxed country setting.

An intimate sitting area offers another place to gather without losing the openness of the interior. Gray-blue upholstery, graphic pattern, contemporary artwork and collected pieces sit alongside reclaimed timber, giving the room a layered, lived-in quality.

The principal bedroom balances the rustic character of the ranch architecture with tailored comfort. An upholstered bed, muted color palette and tactile materials create a calm retreat, while traditional forms and contemporary details keep the room both warm and refined.

Designed for shared stays, the twin bedroom feels comfortable and elegant, yet informal. Patterned seating, layered neutrals and views across the grounds soften the space, while timber details connect it naturally to the rest of the house.

The bunk room was designed for grandchildren and younger guests, making efficient use of its footprint without losing warmth or personality. Built-in beds frame the window, while pattern and texture give the room a playful but considered quality.

In the bathroom, polished stone contrasts with reclaimed timber, bringing a more refined edge to the ranch aesthetic. Natural light emphasizes the texture of the ceiling, while the freestanding tub softens the composition and gives the room a quiet, restorative feel.
