KIPS BAY DECORATOR SHOW HOUSE NEW YORK

Kips Bay Decorator Show House New York 2024 | Grand Staircase and Powder Room by Lucinda Loya

At the 2024 Kips Bay Decorator Show House New York, interior designer Lucinda Loya unveiled a dramatic grand staircase and powder room design that celebrates art, craftsmanship, and nature-inspired luxury. The staircase is anchored by the “Ripped” rug from Loya’s collaboration with The Rug Company, while a custom wallpaper created with Flavor Paper forms a striking backdrop. Composed of meticulously joined 19th-century etchings, the wallcovering creates a unified landscape perspective, with a cascading waterfall motif that invites visitors upward toward the landing.

The landing is framed by large-scale custom cornices and alpaca drapery crafted by The Shade Store using luxurious fabrics by Sandra Jordan. These organic elements balance grandeur with quiet elegance, pairing bold visual impact with natural serenity.

Innovative lighting enhances the architectural drama. The Fiddlehead fixtures by Roll & Hill emulate the delicate unfurling of fern leaves, while the Grand Aperture fixture by Allied Maker illuminates the staircase with a sculptural form inspired by the sun and the passage of light.

The adjacent powder room continues the narrative with “Rift,” a new wallpaper design by Lucinda Loya produced by Flavor Paper. A custom vanity designed for Cosentino is paired with fixtures by Kohler and pendant lighting by Vaughan. The space is finished with bespoke accessories and custom monogrammed towels by E. Braun & Co. New York, completing a refined powder room that blends artful detail with modern luxury.
