Set within Houston’s Memorial Villages, Knipp Oaks is a 12,212-square-foot French country residence reimagined by Lucinda Loya Interiors. The home retains the character of its original architecture, including stone walls and vaulted ceilings, with contemporary art, custom furnishings and unexpected combinations bringing a fresh perspective to its interiors.
Designed for clients who value both refinement and comfort, the rooms pair European influences with confident color, collectible pieces and couture-level textile detailing, reflecting Lucinda Loya Interiors’ approach to residential interior design. Bold wallcoverings and richly layered fabrics give this modern French country home an individual identity, grounded in the way its owners live and entertain.
The living room sets the tone with a crisp, collected mix of bespoke upholstery, contemporary art and sculptural lighting. Pedro Friedeberg’s iconic hand chairs add a playful jolt of gold to a composition anchored by generous seating and a tightly edited palette.
In the dining room, a custom table sits beneath Andreea Braescu’s art chandelier. Its delicate forms stand out against the original stone walls and vaulted ceiling, with arched windows, pattern and portraiture completing the setting.
The kitchen builds on the warmth of the home’s French country architecture through stone, wood and generous proportions. Cleaner lines bring definition to the space, and a custom island chandelier draws attention to its central gathering place.
Just beyond the kitchen, the breakfast room offers an inviting setting for everyday meals. Tall black-framed windows draw the garden into view, providing a leafy backdrop for patterned dining chairs and distinctive overhead lighting.
FEATURED SUPPLIERS
Featured makers include Pedro Friedeberg, Andreea Braescu, Holly Hunt, Knoll and Scalamandré. From sculptural lighting and collectible furniture to richly layered textiles, each brings a distinct point of view to the home.
LUCINDA LOYA, FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL DESIGNER“We approached the project as a full interior redesign of a traditional home in Houston’s Memorial Villages, preserving its architectural character while introducing a more modern, sophisticated and highly tailored interior.”
A secondary lounge area centers on conversation and entertaining, with custom seating gathered beside an intimate bar. Warm metallic accents and patterned upholstery lend the room a convivial atmosphere, illuminated by tall windows.
In the primary bedroom, floor-to-ceiling drapery emphasizes the room’s height and softens its architectural lines. A graphic paneled wall frames the bed, with starburst details adding a decorative flourish.

In the guest bedroom, plum and chartreuse extend from the wallcovering to the bed, punctuated by fresh white linens. Bedside pendants introduce a jewelry-like detail, creating a memorable setting for overnight stays.
