Saddlebranch House is Lucinda Loya’s own Houston residence, where modern home interior design creates a clean backdrop for an evolving mix of art, furniture and collected objects. First completed in 2009 and updated in 2026, the home retains its clean architectural character while becoming more expressive through contemporary art, sculptural furniture and object d’art.

Rather than redesigning around each new acquisition, Lucinda has allowed the home’s original architecture to remain a quiet framework for change. Art moves between rooms, designer furniture sits comfortably alongside more relaxed pieces, and familiar objects are continually recontextualized. The result is a layered approach to luxury residential interior design that feels considered and gallery-like, while remaining warm, inviting and entirely suited to everyday life.

A sculptural Kau chair sets the tone on arrival, introducing the home’s mix of art, designer furniture and quiet architectural detail. Beyond, the great room opens into a light-filled backdrop for pieces gathered and reimagined over time.

In the double-height great room, four Pierre Paulin Terrazza sofas create a relaxed, conversational setting beneath soaring ceilings. Contemporary art and object d’art bring warmth and personality to the restrained neutral interior.

The dining room pairs a substantial glass table with sculptural seating, allowing each form to register against the pared-back interior. Statement lighting and large-scale artwork add drama without overwhelming the room.

An intimate dining area softens the home’s gallery-like character with rounded forms, upholstered seating and layered neutrals. Bold artwork and black-framed doors provide contrast while keeping the room relaxed and inviting.

LUCINDA LOYA, FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL DESIGNER

“The bones of the house have remained the same, but the way I live with art and collectible design is always evolving. I’m constantly moving pieces, changing the atmosphere, and creating new relationships between the objects and the space, while keeping the home warm, inviting, and comfortable. ”

The sweeping white staircase is treated as sculpture in its own right, its curved form framing a shifting collection of art and objects below. The restrained palette keeps the focus on shape, proportion and movement.

Upstairs, a quiet sitting niche becomes another place for art and design to interact. Graphic upholstery, figurative artwork and a delicate suspended piece animate the clean white architecture without crowding it.

Pattern takes a lead role in this intimate sitting room, where graphic upholstery, richly patterned shades and a built-in window seat create a more cocooning mood. Warm wood and metallic accents keep the mix polished.

In the bedroom, dusty rose, black and cream create a richer, more enveloping palette. A dramatic wall treatment, circular mirrors and mixed patterns give the room personality while keeping the composition grounded.
